Nervy Hamburg hold off City fightback

Manchester City were humbled 3-1 by Hamburg in the first-leg of the UEFA Cup quarter-finals. The time around, goals from Elano and Caicedo handed the Citizens a 2-1 second-leg win, but the result was not enough to see them through as the Germans coasted into the semi-finals 4-3 on aggregate.


Relieved Bremen thwart Udinese recovery

The Italians dominated the match from the start and grabbed a deserved 3-1 lead at half-time. Werder fought back though and scored twice after the break to make it 3-3 after 90 minutes.
Diego and Pizaro scored for Bremen to make the passage in the semis.
