FC Timisoara, who will be VfB's opponents in the upcoming playoff for a place in this season's Champions League group phase (first leg Tuesday, August 18th), are not completely unknown in Stuttgart. On January 21st 2009, the VfB reserves took on the Romanian first division side in a friendly and won 2-1.
