In the UEFA Champions League semifinal we have FC Barcelona taking on Bayern Munich while Real madrid will be taking on Borussia Dortmund so its 2 spanish sides and 2 German sides in the last 4. Barcelona have been not playing on top of their game and they still made it to the semifinals while Bayern Munich are the pick of the team in this years event as they have steam rolled everyone on their way to later stages of the competitions.
Bayern Munich had a good group stages and they topped the group containing Valencia, while in the round of 16 tie against Arsenal we saw Bayern at their brilliant best when they beat Arsenal at Emirates Stadium by 3-1 while in the return leg they lost 2-0 in a surprising defeat. Quarter final tie saw them come up against Juventus and they did not stand a chance at all as Bayern Munich won both legs 2-0 and won the tie on aggregate of 4-0
Barcelona on the other hand have been below par in terms of the performance, and the standard they usually set. They had a decent group stages, where they were beaten by Celtic but made it to the knock out stages while in the round of 16 they were beaten by AC Milan 2-0 at San Siro but turn the tie around in the return leg when they beat Milan 4-0, against PSG in the quarter finals they looked 2nd best at times but that away goal in first leg meant they went through.
So looking at the form of both sides its easy to see that Bayern Munich are a better side this season, and Barcelona are underdogs in this match but with Messi in the ranks they will always have somthing new to offer and if Bayern can deal with Messi they will have great chance of making it to the finals.
